Interview with Lauren Harvey, author of Imperfect

1. Did you always know you wanted to be a writer or was there
something else you wanted to do as a career?

As a child, I had always wanted to be a writer.  Once I got into college, I realized just how competitive the field is.  Needing stability, I ended up becoming a licensed veterinary technician.  I love writing and am glad that I am able to pursue my childhood dream and still have my "fall-back" career as wel.  :)

2. If you had the chance to co-author a book with anyone who would it
be and why?

Wow.  That's a toughie.  To some extent, I have.  My first full-length novel, Imperfect became the incredible book it is due to the wonderful work of Chelle Cordero.  I also wrote the forward for and contributed to a book that will be published later this year by the incredible Lloyd Kaneko.  They are both writers that I admire greatly, so I feel as though I have already been privileged to have have co-authored those books.  :)

3. Is there any books you've read that were so emotional that you teared up?

Oh yes!  There have been many!  Call me an emotional fool, but I really allow myself to get swept up in the stories and the people.  I think the list would be too long if I named them all!  :)

4. What is the first book that you remember reading?

Another tough question!  I remember some of my favorite bed time stories as a little one.  As a child, we read the James Herriott books, Little House on the Prarie series and more.  My mother is an avid reader, so reading was a huge part of my childhood.  I'm not sure I remember which was the first book I read.

5. If your book was being made into a movie do you already have actors
in mind for each role? What bands/singers would you put on the
soundtrack?

Actually yes, I do have actors selected for my books!  :)  There is a great website called storycasting.com that allows authors to do just that!  All of my books are on there!  I love playing on there!  :)  As for music, my taste runs the gamut and I would love to see a lot of my favorite bands or songs make it on there.  Evanesence, Rammstein, Metallica, Carly Simon, Pink...You name it!  :)  I think music is really important for evoking emotion in a story, so music is really import in my writing process, in my stories and in my books if they were ever to become movies!  :)

6. What are 10 random facts about yourself?

1) I am very short.  I'm only 5'1".
