Though I don’t typically reach for romance novels, this one was recommended to me and I was intrigued by the title. It is a quick read—and a bit somber—but certainly entertaining. The beautiful twists kept me turning pages. It really is a lovely story with special main characters and a well-developed supporting cast.
Though there is a certain sadness with the themes of death and things that are gone, there is joy here too. In that way this book is a mirror of life.
I enjoyed the well-developed descriptions of the scenes and seasons, not just visually but visceral as well. I could feel the atmosphere. I also liked the integration of the five life elements.
I’ve added books 1 & 2 to my TBR list. I think I’ll read this one again once I have more of the backstory. This one haunts you a bit and tugs at the heartstrings, but in a pleasant, human kind of way. It has inspired me to reflect on the flow of my own life and the need for deeper roots.
Well written.--Charlotte Nystrom-author.
