Want to be a writer?

THEN WRITE! At least one out of every three people I meet who learn I'm a new author, tell me, "I've always wanted to write a book." What is stopping you?
My best advice to anyone who wants to write a book is to start. What's the best way to eat an elephant? One bite at a time.
So don't overwhelm yourself with thinking about a WHOLE BOOK! Think about writing ONE SENTENCE, then ONE PARAGRAPH, then ONE PAGE. Before you know it, you'll have a WHOLE CHAPTER. The best advice I received from a course I took was this: Set a goal of writing a minimum of 1,000 words per day, no matter what. Even if you have writer's block, make yourself write (or type). Even if you decide the next day to toss it (don't--you never know when those words might give you inspiration), at least you are building the "Writing Habit."
I'm 67 years old, and I just published my FIRST BOOK! Just think where I might be today if I had started writing back when I was 14 (when I first dreamed of being an author).
