"Try this on your head" was the handwritten note on this photograph by LUTHER PARKER (1872-1948?) who arrived in the Philippines in 1901 and served with the Bureau of Education till 1926. Aside from teaching he did research on Philippine history and left us with an album of photographs, preserved in the National Library of the Philippines, that capture life in prewar times. He returned to the U.S. in 1931 and its a pity that his library (and notes) were sold and dispersed in 1949.
