If you find yourself no longer in need of a cab or bike that you booked through an app, just pick up the phone when the driver calls and say in terrible broken Spanish, "No abla la Englees. Abla no pa vamanos." Repeat verbatim if needed. They will cancel your ride out of sheer frustration and save you the penalty fee. If your driver happens to respond in fluent Spanish, shift seamlessly to French or Chinese, perhaps German or Arabic. Throw them off the scent. If your driver fluently responds to you in one or all of those languages, just ask them, "What the heck are you doing working this job?! You're gifted! Have you tried LinkedIn?" Then you will be busted coz you just spoke fluent English and gave away the whole game. So go ahead, cancel your ride like a responsible customer, and pay the penalty for not being able to stay in character.
