First Week
This St. Patrick’s Day will always hold special meaning for me because it falls on the week of my book release. As a former cop, and a whistleblower, I’ve experienced my fair share of stress. I was stressed at first about the release of my book, but as the day drew closer, I was relieved.
Owning my story was extremely important to me. Others had publicly shared aspects of my story. It was like reading Cliff’s Notes from a book you know like the back of your hand, and noticing the most important parts were missing. Being able to tell my story, in my own words, has provided me with a sense of accomplishment and pride.
Today I will celebrate by raising a glass to all those who have been brave enough to speak up when they witnessed something they knew was wrong. To all of the whistleblowers from all walks of life, I stand in solidarity with you. To those who are living it now, and wondering if there is life after exposing the wrong, I assure you there is. The path is long, and often winding, but in the end you can have a sense of pride for standing up.
