Follow twin sisters Mandy and Lizzy and their friends Yerma and Hugo on a nonstop adventure of challenge and self-discovery.
Adopted by the Mistook Native American tribe the four friends (who happen to be in an up & coming rock band The Mols) engage in a vision quest under the guidance of Rosethorn, an ageless Shaman neither young nor old, male nor female. Their mission is to find a talisman, the Crystal Heart, a centuries old artifact that bequeaths magic powers upon its owner and to present it as a great gift to the Mistook tribe.
Their journey begins with an adrenaline-fueled careen down a vortex in the shape of DNA, a double helix; time disappears. The description of the friends' plunge into the abyss is mind-bending. A kaleidoscope of objects, sounds, instruments, toys and creatures of every shape and color whiz by them on their descent into the unknown. The vivid imagery is reminiscent of 1960's psychedelia, think The Beatles' Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds.
When they come to a stop the friends find themselves in another world; a seaport, stranded in time. And trouble begins. To start with the twins get separated from Yerma and Hugo. Before long they discover they're not alone in their quest to find the talisman: the sinister and bloodthirsty Queen Ant LaRouge (with voodoo powers) will stop at nothing to the acquire it and she’ll stop anyone who gets in her way. She enlists her loyal criminal pirates in full pursuit aiming to imprison the friends in Ant Hill.
To escape Ant Hill Island the friends must decipher a secret code; time is running out. Along their journey they encounter seemingly endless obstacles. Shoals and jagged rocks, cannonballs, skeletons, buzzards, horrid beasts, dark tunnels, damp caves. And worst of all, nightmarish gargoyles springing to life, giving chase to our heroes.
Uplifting moments give a sense of relief as the warriors make new friends and establish an unlikely alliance. You’ll learn to love I’ll-Go-Mine, their trusty canine companion that helps guide the way.
Questions present themselves as you follow the friends on their adventure.
Is it all a dream?
How did The Mols band get its name?
What does the helix represent to the Mistook tribe?
Yo Yo’s and jumprope??
Who names a dog I’ll-Go-Mine? And why?
Why do some characters have opposite first and last names?
What and where is the Electric Circus?
Answers await as the story unfolds.
Rooted in spirituality, There’s No Such Thing As Never in Forever is a delightful book of non-stop action, entertainment and substance. The authors hit all the right notes keeping you hooked from beginning to end.
Intended for young adults, clearly this book appeals to all ages. Read it and become inspired by the four friends; you too may discover wisdom and powers that just might change you and sustain you on your life journey.
As the book nears its end a pleasant surprise awaits, setting up anticipation of a sequel. I can hardly wait.
