Her Royal Happiness by
Lola KeeleyMy rating:
4 of 5 starsWell, 3,5 stars, really because of the setting. The way the Royals and their relationship with the press are described just went against the grain of my experience of living and experiencing life in the UK ever since I went on a student exchange in 1967 and later to live there in 1986. I left in 1999, already feeling the change in energy there that led to Brexit.
The romance in itself is nicely written, believable -if set elsewhere- and without the quality of it I woud not even have dithered between 3 or 4 stars, it woul have been a 2 at best. In the end, once I had dissolved my distraction of the romance by the awareness of where it was set with almost a complete bottle of Chardonnay, I decided on 3.5 rounded to 4, as people who, have not personally experienced life in the UK, can surely enjoy this as the fairy-tale romance it is.
