21 Lessons I Learnt in 2021

Hello! Hello! I’m back- with a very very belated New Years post, coming at you from nearly the second week of February- from someone who desperately needed that little window between Christmas and New Years to recuperate (I promise I wasn’t just watching When Harry Met Sally and eating triple chocolate crunch. That often anyway)- but it was so needed, and I’m so excited to be back, truly.

And, as much as I love starting the new year a little like a new school term- I always enjoy these little reflective posts to end each year too. Although not every year has to be packed with profound learnings and life changing developments; sometimes there’s a few things I keep coming back to that I like to add to my miniature wisdom wallet for safekeeping- in hope I might remember some of these things to make the next year (and the one after that) a little more gentle too.

Last year was magical, unforgettable, heart-achingly special, heart-breakingly challenging and pretty much everything in-between. I learnt a lot about myself, my strengths, weaknesses, love, loss and carrying on when the going gets tough (clue: it’s normally putting on Boyzone). And although I’m not sure I’ve managed to articulate everything on a few scraps of notebook paper collaged onto some magazine cuttings- I’ve given it a good go.

So I hope you enjoy reading a few of my favourite lessons from 2021. Rereading them I realise number 6 and 7 might make it sound like I have a bit of a chip on my shoulder; (when actually I saw these on a cool Instagram graphic and thought ‘yeah, that’s a good one for a serial people pleaser to remember!’) and I’m aware 10 and 11 aren’t exactly revolutionary either- but sometimes cliches are cliches for a reason, and I’m happy with that (I’m not sure anyone comes here for my deep and meaningful wisdom anyway- so that’s more than ok). I’ve also included lessons about sleep, driving and taking vitamins so I think it’s safe to say I’m absolutely an established grown up now (it was that or my age which was a sure fire give away), which is something worth celebrating too.

Anyway! Considering I’m almost certain it’s too late to wish anyone a Happy New Year, I’ll wish you a lovely week instead. I’m back on Saturday with another blog post, and you can expect to see me this time next week too- because, hey! Routine! (Nope, I’m not sure I know her either).

Thank you, as always for your kindness, patience and endless support throughout the last year (and finding me over on Instagram when here was a little sleepy). You’re the best and I’ll never ever not be grateful.

Here’s to a brilliant 2022 <3

x
