Immigrants Like Me
As an immigrant, I'm pretty attuned to the myriad of ways that people seem to what to either scream or murmur about how there are too many of us (via policy etc). One way is to claim that the numbers are too high (highest levels ever sort of thing). But this post shows how the percentage of people born outside the US and refugees within has usually been higher in the first half of our nation's history rather than recently (note halfway through the box is 1935).
Also note that the states one thinks of as more close minded to "other" people, is usually a state without too many people from either other states or immigrants as it were (backing the theory that exposure reduces people's hatred, rather than the other way, which is what many people in our MSM try to say). Not a hard and fast rule, of course, but worth noting.
