Senators block US President Biden’s mandatory vaccination policy

Majority of United States senators unanimously voted on Wednesday to block the mandate of President Joe Biden to require workers of large private companies to be vaccinated against Covid-19 or undergo a weekly testing.

With a vote of 52-48, the Senate passed a measure blocking Biden’s mandate, which was supported by all 50 Republicans in the upper chamber and two centrist Democrats Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Jon Tester of Montana.

The Senate’s move was led by Senator Mike Braun of Indiana who said threatening the job of Americans if they refuse to be vaccinated or undergo weekly testing “is the heavy hand of government.”

Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming said Biden, who is not a doctor, is committing a “medical malpractice” with his mandate. Barrasso is the chair of the Senate Republicans.
