Ducks Ahoy!

In 1992 a cargo ship en-route from China to the USA lost some of its containers overboard in rough seas, spilling 29,000 plastic ducks into the Pacific Ocean. Ever since, these non-degradable bath toys have been gradually washing ashore on every continent on Earth and oceanographers have been using them to chart ocean currents. Even now, ducks continue to make landfall on beaches all over the world. If you ever find one of these ‘Friendly Floatees’, you’re in luck – they’ve become collector’s items and are now selling on eBay for up to $1000. Who’d’ve thunk?
