October 31st: Going AWOL (Author / Writer On the Loose)

It is the eve of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and I will be suspending my usual themed posts other than Free Book Friday, as I focus on writing ~1600 words/day for the next 30—30 days has September, April, June, and —

Yes, 30 days. and I am anticipating that for the second year in a row, I won’t reach 50K.

I’m not a pessimist. Well, I kind of am, but I know that I am a slow writer both in typing speed and idea speed. My forte is the short story, so I tend not to go for info dumps or long descriptions.

Last year I wrote ~20k in the month, then it took another 6 months to get to 30K.

I know I will get a book out of it. Probably another novella in my series. My first novella will be sent to my editor soon.

I’m usually up early, so I’m planning on dedicating the morning to write. My coffee intake will increase more than likely, but if I write in the evening, I’d probably run out of wine by the end of the month.

I am toying with doing some reposts of my favorite blasts from the pasts in Tuesday Time Machine and Throwback Thursday, along with my Weekend Wrap-up.

I’ll keep you apprised of the novel/novella progress (or lack of…)

Is anyone else participating?

[Deep breath]
