It’s one thing to acknowledge when you’re doing something wrong; it’s another to create something wrong because that’s what’s familiar.
When I catch myself doing the latter, I stop, take a deep breath, take a few minutes to ask, “Why am I doing this?” and then search for a better response.
It takes time, something we are constantly told we don’t “have.”
I take the time anyway, and it sets me back on course to make better choices.
That’s my intent for the week; to keep focusing on breaking these bad patterns, which may have served as protection at one point, but now cause harm. And to replace them with better patterns, that serve me well NOW, with the realization that they, too, may have to be shattered and replaced in the future for something better.
