Of Rocketships: A Sonnet

I dream that I am on a rocket ship
Propelled through nebulas and space and stars
A distant planet’s prince makes winsome quips
As I hurtle past, going far, far, far

Away to distant worlds in hot pursuit
Of stories that I cannot find at home
Of pirates, knaves, and dames of ill repute
And yes, of days less smoggy monochrome.

My ship searches for saturated skies
With rich details, a thousand storied nights
If my world burns, let me have pretty lies
Believe pollution didn’t cause the lights

So I’ll pretend I’m in a fairy tale
And make believe all this will turn out well.
