Where are you from?

Originally I’m from Ontario, Canada (just outside of Toronto). But currently live Southern California (for the past 21 years) with my husband Ron, and the most amazing golden lab named Lincoln.    I also have two (now adult kids) my son, Mitch, 29 just moved out this summer, and my daughter, Meg, 24 who is still here at home with us.

A fun fact about you.

I love the smell of coffee.  But I can’t stand the taste of it.  LOL

When did you get started in scrapbooking?

Funny story actually, although I’ve been creating since I was a teenager; I learned to knit @13, wallpapered an entire room by myself @18, and countless crafts along the way, I avoided scrapbooking for the longest time.  Why?  Because I just knew I would absolutely love it, and want everything!   My friend didn’t give up though and finally dragged me to a creative memories crop in 2005.  Both things were true!    Shortly after that we would get together and scrapbook at my dining room table for days on end while our kids were in school.   I still have that first album, but so much about how I scrapbook has changed since then.

How did you get started using Canva?

Can you believe I discovered Canva through a google search?  In 2017 my employer at the time asked me to create a marketing ad for his business.  We didn’t have any design software, and I knew Word, Publisher & Power Point weren’t going to cut it, so I searched online for a solution.   I found Canva.  It was free…and very easy to learn.  And my marketing ad…it got a full page placement in a national publication.

What is your favorite AE project?

I love every project Ali does.  The albums I feel most proud of are my Week In The Life Albums.  But I love and have been following December Daily from the very beginning.  Since using Canva as my "go to" design tool I have completed 3 WITL albums and 2 DD albums without them taking weeks or even months to finish.

What is one thing you hope people take away from your class?

That’s a great question!  I’ll have to give you two for this one. Confidence & Accomplishment.  The confidence to try something new.  The joy of accomplishment when they complete their first page or finish their album using Canva.

Registration for Canva is still open, and the first lesson will be available on October 19th. Also, please note that to follow along with Kim's lessons, you will need your own Canva account. If you haven't created your free account yet, please sign up at Canva.com to create one now.
