Biden says he talked to Xi about respecting the status quo with Taiwan

U.S. President Joe Biden assured this Tuesday that he had talked with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping about Taiwan and that they had agreed to respect the status quo as tensions between Beijing and Taipei escalated.

“I talked to Xi about Taiwan. We agree … to abide by the agreement on Taiwan. We have made it clear that I think he should do nothing but abide by the agreement,” Biden told reporters in Washington after returning from a cheap travel to Michigan.
