The eruption continues, with more explosive phases, after leveling 240 acres

The eruption of the volcano Cumbre Vieja on the Canary Island of La Palma continues with more explosive phases and has already destroyed about 240 hectares of land on a perimeter close to 16 kilometers, according to the Ministry of National Security (DSN).

In its latest situation report released Friday at 8 p.m., DSN also points out that a column of gases or clouds emanating from La Palma volcano, an island in the Atlantic Canary Archipelago, reaches an altitude of up to 4,500 meters.
