It always pays to be curious.
Got down and dirty digging through a heap of old papers in an Ermita shop two decades ago and found two 19th century bank drafts: HSBC and what is now Standard Chartered.
Storekeeper priced these very reasonably at PHP 100, and if I had bargained well, I'm sure I could have gotten BOTH for less than PHP80. I felt the price was fair and paid without comment.
