Lucio and Simplicio Godino were Siamese twins born in Samar in 1908. They were rescued from a Coney Island freak-show by Resident Commissioner Teodoro Yangco who adopted them and gave them a happy home. They grew to adulthood, married identical twins, and made a living as musicians. When Lucio died in New York in 1936, doctors tried in vain to separate Simplicio.
