That's a common enough adage and moral lesson, but for some reason the portrayal of it in our current Colombian series was visually super affecting and got me thinking.

Hmm. In childhood, wanting to make a treasure map, I buried a favorite book. When we followed the map and dug up the book a long time later, it was all mildewed. One kind of lesson learned.

If only the character in this series had done that as a child, he wouldn't have made this mistake with money!
Also, how very cool that you didn't end up digging up the book until much later (despite the bad results)--and that your map actually worked to let you do so (and you didn't lose the map, etc.).
