The Water Rat of Wanchai – Accolades in 2011

2011 was a big year for Ian Hamilton with the launch of the Ava Lee Series. The books also received great reviews as fans eagerly await the 2012 release of the third book in the series, The Wild Beasts of Wuhan.


The first book in the series, The Water Rat of Wanchai, was chosen by the Quill and Quire as one of its top 15 books of 2011. The ranking including all types of fiction (including kids, comics etc.) and non-fiction. This was announced in the December issue of Quill and Quire.

The Water Rat of Wanchai was also named one of Amazon Canada's Top 100 Books of the Year for 2011. The list is chosen from every book released in Canada from anywhere in the world, and includes fiction, non-fiction and all genres.


The Water Rat, and the second book in the series, The Disciple of Las Vegas, were named on the Booksellers' picks of the year in the crime and mystery division.

And the accolades continued when The Water Rat of Wanchai , was chosen by the Toronto Star as one of the top five best reads of 2011.

The debut Ava Lee novel was also chosen by iBooks as #2 in list of the top ten mystery/thrillers of 2011.
