Voice updates
A second round of proofing is now done, having spent a few months not thinking about it to focus on another project (The Lottery, now at ~30,000 words). The time away was definitely beneficial, and it allowed me to review it again with fresher eyes.
I think I can now say that I'm happy with the story, and won't be tinkering with it anymore. It's at a state that I'd be happy showing it to editors in an effort to pluck it from obscurity. It also allowed me to think about the future books in that series, and correct a few of the continuity errors that I'd missed. Anyone who obtained it before it goes live (the next few days) won't have received a dramatically different story, but now it feels more polished (at least for a self-published book!)
Best typographical error found: I realized I had named two chapters 'prelude', which was definitely one prelude too many! One was promptly renamed to 'unrest'
