A City of Pits Tests My Wits

Outside my house a dig to find treasures of Maharajas
Excavations by my office to discover the legend of elcajas
Archeological surveys are in overdrive to prove their might
A ditch here, a trench there, pits everywhere look left or right

They might find riches of pharaohs around the bus station
Next to my favorite Mexican restaurant some gold to ration
‘Tis the city full of excavations, expeditions are rampant
The race against the time, competitions to become triumphant
Layers of geological wonders and paleontological evidences
How much can you find in a city full of unchecked arrogances?
Can’t drive anywhere without jumping over a billion bumps
Can’t walk anywhere where I don’t have to go over a hump
Stop digging holes, putting metal plates, testing our sanity
The obstacle course is too tough for us to have any vanity
The mystery in unsolved, the motivation entirely unknown
Why they keep digging making every street a hazardous zone
