Devotion for First Friday in Lent 2012

Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?" And Jesus said to them, "Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast." ~ Matthew 9:14–15

Heavenly Father, Jesus' disciples spent time with Him when He was here on earth, and Your desire is for me to spend time with You. Whether I am fasting and using mealtimes to pray or adding extra time to my daily devotions, help me to focus on You, listen to Your voice, and experience Your presence. In Jesus' name. Amen.
