So...here's the flip side of being an author. You hear about the good and the frustrating. But can we talk about the nail-biting, gut-wrenching anxiety that comes with releasing ARCs for a book that will break your readers in ways they haven't been broken while reading one of your stories before? I have been warning readers for a year about THE WICKED AFTERMATH, a book that took me back to my women's fiction roots intertwined with romance, and drew tears through at least 75% of the story. Sad tears, happy tears, relieved tears, and who-the-frick-knows-why-I'm-crying tears. I nearly changed the storyline while writing this book because it was so devastating to write.

But I believe in letting my characters lead me through THEIR story.

And I did.

I LOOOOOVE Leah Yates and Tank Wicked's love story. I love the babies, the families, the broken hearts coming together, and all of the ups and downs it took to get there.

I believe in the story. Not all romances are born from adorable meet cutes and lustful glances. Some dredge through tragedies, get dragged through swamps, and finally find their way to the other side, stronger and with more determination than ever.

I am so flipping PROUD of this story!! So far, the feedback has been positive, to the tune of, "What the hell are you doing to me?" "This is so good, but I can't stop crying!" and more.
But EVERY time I get a message, I hold my breath.

On release week I'll be in worse shape because many of my loyal readers do not read the blurbs to my book--even when I very strongly suggest they do. I worry about them being blindsided. Please don't tell me to add trigger warnings. That's what blurbs are for, and if they don't read the blurb, they're not going to read a trigger warning.

There, I said it. I'm a nervous wreck, and I'm currently writing my fingers off to finish another story while excited and anxious to read early reviews of THE WICKED AFTERMATH ❤
