Enjoying A Picnic
FEAR was like seasickness, it came in great waves, a thunderous beat that drummed in the stomach and made the whole body vibrate. --Marghanita Laski, THE VICTORIAN CHAISE LOUNGE
Mom flew over from Alameda to LA for another weekend. It’s nice to see mom reading, relaxing and/or simply enjoying a picnic with me. It was fun going to see a new Sandra Bullock movie. Mom likes this actress. It was a cute romantic comedy called WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING about a gal who has a second chance at love.
I heard an easy listening song by a singer I’ve never heard of before named Jeff Buckley. The song is called I KNOW IT’S OVER. It’s true---sometimes one has to know when ‘it’s over’. I like his vocals.
It’s been a tough month after a horrible incident last week (April 19th) after a car bomb devastated the Oklahoma City Federal Building. President Bill Clinton recently made a TIME FOR HEALING speech that was quite moving and needed for everyone to hear. Events like this instill FEAR and SADNESS. We need HOPE after the SHOCK. The culprit of this horrible event was some idiot (Timothy McVeigh) who was found guilty and sentenced to death in June 1997; on June 11, 2011 he was executed by lethal injection.
ROB ROY: A biographical historical drama starring Liam Neeson and Jessica Lange.
KISS OF DEATH: A dramatic crime-thriller starring David Caruso, Nicolas Gage, Samuel L Jackson and Helen Hunt.
I wrote letters to Dorothy J Rua and cousin, Carol Lucero. Who will write to me next week?
I’m still working diligently at Charles Schwab & Co. I love counting down my days to the weekend or the next stretch of days where I can get away. It’s important to always have something to look forward to. In the meantime, I listen as there is always something to learn.
If people don’t reply when you speak to them and never initiate conversation, you soon forget they’re there. --Alex Michaelides, THE SILENT PATIENT
