Spammed

If you live long enough you will eventually be hustled or scammed by someone.Everyone has, even though no one likes to admit it.I am also pretty sure some of you will email, message,or text me saying that you have never been duped by anyone, ever.Maybe even someone out there will be brave enough to leave aCommenthere on thisBlogsaying how heor she has never been swindled.Let me ask you this. Not even by yourParentsto get you to do something when you were little?Okay, enough of an introduction. My point is,I was taken advantage of last summer.Over the course of this blog I have stated where I have handed out free meals to the homeless onThanksgiving, handout one dollar bills to most of the people holding up cardboard help me signs on street corners when it is safe to do so,and donate clothing & furniture for the poor at thePala Mission Church. So last year I thought I would go a bit furtherand went online to sign up withGreenpeace International.I gave them one of my lesser used email addresses (I have 6),because I know I will be getting a lot of spam as most businesses sell this information.Even theFederal Governmentdoes it.How do you think all that junk mail gets to your house with your name on it. Don't believe me?Read theEULA sometime on any website you visit, program,or app you download. Here is where I made a grave mistake though. And I should know better since I worked with computers for twenty years before retiring in 2008.On the online form I filled out I put down my real phone number so they could call meand set up an appointment so I could be assessed on how I could help. They also sell this information, read your EULA.It only took two days before my phone was spammed with texted messages saying they were from my cell phone company,Amazon,FedEx,Social Security, tax preparers, and links to nude pictures of women who said they knew me.Yes,the spammers have my name too!BecauseGreenpeacealso gave them that information.
Homer Simpson Doh Sound Effect Of course I block every text message's phone number I get after I,first, text my spam message to my phone company at7726.This text number is an universal number. So whichever cell phone company you have it will go directly to them.Second,I go to the websiteReportFraud.ftc.gov.Click onReport Now,thenSomething Else, and follow the instructions from there. This is,Saying We All Get Spammed EventuallyJim Hauenstein And, “When you sign up for Instagram, you are agreeing to their terms of service. When you put content up, you agree that while you own the content you are giving them rights to it as well. This did not go into effect recently. This is common place for many social sites. And you can not post a picture with a statement saying that you do not agree to the agreement you have already agreed to by using the site.”
