There’s someone on Twitter claiming that Persephone was r!ped in the Homeric Hymn to Demeter because the translation stated that Hermes found Persephone and Hades sitting on a bed and she’s miserable, they also note that Persephone is no longer referred

I think it’s wide open to interpretation and I’ve given mine over the years. If Helene says it’s uncertain then that’s very factual. There’s a big lacuna right in the middle of the original HHtD. Can’t get more uncertain than THAT.

There’s as many interpretations of the HHtD as there are interpretations about Hades and Persephone. I personally like the explication of HHtD given in The Narcissus and the Pomegranate by Ann Suter of University of Michigan.
