The world of art

Further to my previous post on Tony's Dream. Art museums are curious places. They're like any other business. They have budgets, bottom lines, deadlines, office politics. And, like any other business, sometimes they have criminal behavior - usually financial.

But, unlike other businesses, they must keep up the pretense that they are above all that. Art is pure, so those who work with it must be too. Art appeals to our better nature, so those who work with it must have that better nature. This kind of dichotomy can result in some pretty strange behavior. Thus my book.

Don't get me wrong. Art is essential to life. But it is part of life, warts and all, or as in Tony's case, murder, fraud, forgery - you know, the fun stuff.

That's why I'm thrilled that my next book is a mystery with surfers!

Maryann Kafka Tony's Dream was very good! I'm so geared up for Beau's Dilemma!
