Do you use your brawn or do you use your brain first? A simple question, but not easily answered. Many of us when we face controversy or a problem in life we more often than not use or brawn rather than our brain first.
In the Aesop Fable, “The Crow & the Pitcher”, the crow tries to use his brawn to extract water from a tall narrow pitcher. After wasting his time and energy, he turns to his brain. After deep thought he devised a plan to get the water without spilling it onto the dry ground, by putting pebbles in the pitcher to bring the water to the top for him to drink. Smart crow, or is he?
While he devised a workable plan to drink the needed water. He could have enjoyed it much sooner if he had engaged his brain before his brawn. Are you wasting time and energy? Do you subscribe to the adage, “I’ll read the instructions after all else fails.”
When faced with problems in life, think before you act. Always ask yourself the question, “How can this be solved with the least amount of effort.”
The creed of a lazy person or an efficient one?
