Hitandmiss I totally agree. There’s nearly no way to perfectly replicate the internal monolog, Comments on physical reactions or world building of a book when creating a film. Some can come close in areas, but very often fall way short due to time restrictions.
I agree with your scepticism that your books could be made into a film that would succeed. I had time enough to watch the TV version of the Dresden files recently, and I felt exactly as you said. I wanted to love it as it was Dresden, but nothing was right (they made Bob into a Ghost, this alone made me want to quit watching) and it had none of the complexities of the books.

Just thinking of how they could do the dragon scene with Denna “High” and them joking about it rutting the fire makes me cringe! How would they do Elodin? he come over as just crazy insane! I hate to think how they would shoehorn some accent onto Wilem…. Probably Scottish. How would they even broach all the stories and tales told? In some deathly hallows type animated shadow probably….

No I’m convinced it would do nothing for the story.

Katy Pool If you get kind of sad thinking about The Hobbit, just think about this: Martin Freeman!
That is all.

Derek I'm glad I wasn't the only one wondering who this fictitious girl was based on...

Amber Man, who draws those comics of you? They bust me up everytime! I'm looking forward to Hobbit, even if its just for the hate fest I'll be having for two months afterwards. I sort of love it when they make "book to movies" because hardly anyone reads anymore, and it gives me a chance to talk to people about books and how they are five million times better ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS!!!! Anyway, I've thought about King Killer Chronicles as a movie, and I've already decided, as a movie, it would probably be a pale glimmer of the book. Its to long with too many important scenes to crush into a few hours. If it was made into visual media, I'm saying, hand it over to SyFy, let 'em make it into a mini series. I've loved the last few they did and even bought them. Some look medium cheesy, but Tin Man turned out really visually striking, so I imagine they'd be able to put out a decent picture of the novel(s) Plus, I like that they use actors that arent too A list. I get sick of those plastic faces.
