Tuatha dé Danann Episode II release window, New Blog Schedule, and other news!

So it has certainly been a few since my last blog post! More on that in a moment!

First, I want to thank everyone who has purchased and read Tuatha dé Danann Episode I: The Aes Sídhe! So far I have sold forty-five copies of the novella between my site and Amazon.com and it has been read about fifty times through Amazon Kindle Unlimited! To be honest, I never expected to sell more than a dozen copies to friends and family so to say TDD Episode I has exceeded my expectations is an understatement. On top of that, it seems like people are actually enjoying it as well! It is currently sitting at 5 stars on Amazon and at 4.33 stars on Goodreads. I am going to ask that if you have Episode I, please take a moment to rate it on both Amazon and Goodreads. Whether you loved it or hated it, I want to know what you thought and the more reviews it gets, the more visibility it gets! It takes no time at all to leave a rating and it helps me out more than you can imagine!

Now, onto the news!

First, the big news: Tuatha dé Danann Episode II: Gods & Monsters is on track for a release before the end of the second quarter of 2021. I have been hard at work on the latest episode and would say I’m roughly half way through the first draft. There are a few reasons that it is taking so long, such as my work as a soccer and futsal coach, but the main reason is because this is a much different story than Episode I. The first Episode was really designed to give a quick introduction to these characters and then slam them against a monster in a cool conflict. In Episode II, I plan on really digging into some of the characters and their backgrounds a bit more, all the while revealing a ton of the lore of this world. I am loving what I have written so far and I am positive that it will be enjoyable, albeit very distinct follow-up to Episode I. I will be releasing exclusive character bios and story elements on Patreon every other week, along with other Patron exclusives!

The second big piece of news is my new Blog schedule. I took some time away from the site for about two months following the release of TDD Episode I in order to focus on my coaching work and take care of some long overdue health concerns. I also didn’t want to be spamming out blogs every other day begging people to buy my book. My thought process was that if TDD Episode I was good enough, it would sell on its own without me begging my readers to pick up a copy. Time will tell if this was a mistake and if I should have been more active or not. Either way, it doesn’t change what I have planned for the future for the site. I am planning on releasing two blogs every week; the first will be a quick news update every Wednesday, including site updates, TDD updates, and whatever else I am working on or feel like sharing. On Saturdays I will be releasing a longer blog post with a specific topic, be it writing, science fiction, or whatever else I feel like I can take some time to write about. Some of my favorite posts on this site have been the ones where I really dig into my writing, so I am hoping to do more of those. Or maybe I’ll just upload a ton of pictures of my adorable kitties, Asimov and Heinlein.

Like this:

Seriously, aren’t they the most adorable kitties ever?

Moving on; the last big piece of news is that I plan on having a regular short story schedule as well. Last year I pumped out a few really solid short stories that I had a ton of fun writing and were really positively received. It was the best feeling in the world when Kidneys and Ray Guns was awarded an Honorable Mention in the Writers of the Future contest. While I know that TDD is going to take up the lion’s share of my time, I also know that I want to continue to produce high quality, free, short story content for my audience as well. My goal is to have a new short story released quarterly. Unfortunately, it is very likely that I will not have a new short story for the first quarter. I am in the process of doing a full reboot on Eternal Vigilance (more on that this Saturday!) and I would love to get it done before the end of March but at this moment that is looking highly unlikely. I will keep everyone updated on that process on the Wednesday news blasts. As for other short stories to look forward to, I have a new military science-fiction short in the planning stages, as well as a new Hub of the Universe story, a new comedy featuring a familiar pair of incompetent scientists, a hard-science fiction concept about colony life, and potentially a new short story set in the Tuatha dé Danann universe! There is a lot to be excited about and I am looking forward to sharing it all with all of you!

This Saturday I will be taking an in depth look at what went wrong with Eternal Vigilance and how I can fix it in the reboot. The Haven Lost universe is an absolute gold-mine of content and it is important that I do it justice with any of the short stories in that setting!

Let me know what short story you are looking forward to most! Any thoughts on the new Blog Schedule? Ideas or thoughts about Tuatha dé Danann? Tell me in the comments below!
