Laid-back, down-home style of Joe Stanton

This week on Donald Glenn’s Songs for Sunday, I’m shining the spotlight on local talent Joe Stanton, who has long been a favourite on the Sunshine Coast with his Chet Akins finger-picking style and his down-home song lyrics. A fixture on the Sunshine Coast patio circuit, Joe had to look for other ways to reach his audience in these days of Covid. Like many musicians, he turned to online performances and offers a weekly one-hour show on Facebook called Thursday Night Live. But Joe’s online show is different than others I’ve tuned in to during these dreary pandemic days. Despite the online format, he still manages to make it feel like a kitchen party over at your neighbour’s house. You should check it out one of these Thursdays.
