Laying You to Rest

4.5/5 Stars

***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review***

I was sent an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. I have followed Eden for a while, falling in love with her first collection Atlantis and following up with Of Yesteryear and The Lioness Awakens. This collection was a vastly different from the others, in a unique way. I equally loved this book to the others, the poetry being authentic, raw and comical. Eden writes in a way that is relatable to the modern single woman and universal to anyone who’s been through a breakup. This collection tells a story of her relationship ending to finally laying him to rest-metaphorically. Some of my favorite poems included ‘You’, ‘Mirage’ and ‘The Wake Up’. This collection made me laugh and also hit me where it hurts. I have been through many ghosting situations and her poetry made light of it in the perfect ways, making me feel valid in my range of emotions. You can feel the passion beautifully written behind her words in each poem.
