Russ Clarke Hah! This brought back a good memory, a book that I loved as a child 'The Kitchen Warriors' by Joan Aiken!
I recall that I was always fascinated by the description of the "Slimy Kelpies that lives in the Dishwasher", I thought that the name, Kelpie, had a magical feel to it yet despite having some Scottish ancestry, I had no idea that they were a real thing indeed! Then again, I was only 5 years old and living with my parents in the Married quarters of RAF Gütersloh in west Germany at the time!

Thank you for this small trip down memory lane, Icy! And of course, thank you for yet another thought-provoking article!
I really appreciate the efforts you go to, especially in the current climate!

Peace <3

Oops, wee lie there, I was nearly 7 - For some reason, it always surprises me that this book was originally released in 1983!

I'm glad though, it fired a life-long love of Mythology both original and adapted in modern contexts!
