The EMA Pharmacovigilance and Risk Assessment Committee (PRAC) is a real European committee. One can compare the EMA to her sister organisation the FDA (for American readers). This committee is responsible for assessing all aspects of risk management of human medicines.
In 2010 the pharma company Forest pleaded guilty for the illegal promotion for Celexa for the use in treating children and adolescents suffering from depression. GSK is a pharmaceutical company, registered in England and Wales. In 2012 they pleaded guilty to criminal charges and pay $3 billion in fines for promoting its best-selling antidepressants for unapproved uses and failing to report safety data about a top diabetes drug.
