Tantalizing Clue
While researching my third great-grandfather's life, I found a Supreme Court case. I located their opinion, but this didn't contain any underlying documents. The case involved a land dispute. Their opinion mentions an alleged contract and swindle, but this was termed immaterial to the case. What a tantalizing clue! I want to know more but have been unable to travel there because of this pandemic. The museums were closed this past year.
I sent a copy of Dr. Increase: Mathews Family Saga Book 2 to the historical society. The curator contacted me and said how pleased its members are that someone is writing about a founding father.
I know the society has an archive of my ancestor's documents. I asked the curator if any of these would pertain to this land dispute. He thought there might be something. They planned to move these into a new structure last summer and some organization of contents will be needed. The curator also told me these papers had been found between the walls of someone's house! How awesome is that?
I hope to travel the 1800+ miles to Ohio this summer. Hopefully, my curiosity will be satisfied.
