A Bona-Fide Solution

I am the bottle-washer in my home; my better-half hates cleaning, but I was rewarded for doing cleaning as a child, with an allowance for music, movies, stamps and comic books, obtained on the weekends. I guess it makes sense that cleaning doesn’t bother me much.

Periodically, I’m tasked with a chore beyond the everyday, and at those times, I need to get the work done immediately, so that I can ‘play’ afterwards – going out, writing, reading, movies, etcetera. While I want to do the fun stuff first, things seem to go a bit better if I apply myself to the task and nothing else, until done.

Recently, my wife purchased a new dust-mop, and a new wet mop. The dust mop is effective for our faux-hardwood floors, but the wet mop is extraordinary, and I am singing it’s praises already. My new ‘best friend’ is the BonaⓇ Premium Spray Mop for Hardwood Floors, and it works like a dream.

After dusting the house with a Swiffer (don’t let the earring fool you!), I dismantled everything that wasn’t a piece of heavy furniture or weighing more than 100 lbs, vacuumed the rug, shook all the floor mats out and left them on the porch, and proceeded to dust mop the entire house.

We’d had a cheap, ‘strap the soggy Velcro strapped mop pad over the plastic mop head’ apparatus for years, but as I wondered why my wife is crazy about Bed, Bath & Beyond, I broke out the Bona mop and went to town. It mopped solidly, smoothly, thoroughly, around corners, and the thick, Velcroed cleaning pad stayed on perfectly.

The Bona sprayer never missed, never clogged and never spit beyond its targeted area. In a word, it worked great. The physical feel of the mop is, no-joke, like a solidly engineered vehicle whose doors go, “CHUNK”, when you close them; the weight is perfect, and the handles are comfortable. I’d like it to extend a little taller, but that’s it.
