This collection was recommend highly by a friend of mine so I decided to check it out and I’m very glad I did. I loved the way the collection came together with the fire metaphors. I was impressed with how it all tied together without being too repetitive. Each poem standing well on its own and as a collection. This line; “I thought you would be a breath of fresh air, but I just ended up with scorched lungs” stuck out to me most of all. Some of my favorite poems were “We burn brighter together”, “Incandescent insecurities”, “Small Pyres” and “One last call”. Thomas’ poetry is something I’ll definitely have to read more of.
