We would travel to Chandler JUST TO SEE IT! How gorgeous! What a find! I sent my e-mail to the city council and posted this on face book.
The address is 1220 N Kyrene. I believe (but I am lousy with directions that it is 56th and Kyrene.) It's the border of Tempe and Chandler but is in Chandler. Thanks for your emails!
I and some of my facebook friends have let the Chandler City Council know that it would be horrible to destroy such a beautiful place. Three of them, including the mayor, have responded to my e-mail and said that they will,"take all of these things into account" when they decide what to do. Hopefully they aren't just saying what we want to hear!
As a European I find it interesting to see how Americans travel all the way to Europe to see culture and fairy tale places just like this enchanting building. And it therefore feels so contradictory to me to hear of plans of taring down your own piece of history, art and heritage. Just for buildings which easily can be built somewhere else. Why we have these wonderful havens of art and history in Europe? Because someone somewhere along the line saw the worth, the value and then the need of preservation. Let's take care that somewhere along the line the children of our grandchildren will be gratefull that someone saw the worth, value and the need of preservation of this building for them. And let's begin now with creating wonderful memories in this enchanting place where time just seems to have stopped a moment to magically cross the boundaries of time and whisper to us while we dream away of how it once used to be
Beautiful comment Liesbeth! I hope that they recognize it's worth as well.
