Kate has been cast!
photo: Adam BurnsAs reported in Deadline, Simone Ashley has been tapped to play Kate Sharma (Kate Sheffield in the books), the female lead opposite Jonathan Bailey’s Anthony Bridgerton in season two of Bridgerton.
Newly arrived in London, Kate is a smart, headstrong young woman who suffers no fools — Anthony Bridgerton very much included. Their love story is chronicled in the second book of the Bridgerton series, The Viscount Who Loved Me.

I am so so relieved that they are not going with the Sierra - Anthony pairing as I feared after all the screen time given to the couple in Season 1. The Viscount who loved me is by far my favourite book in the series and it is all because of Kate. So a big hurrah for keeping the original pairing intact.

I also had a question for @Julia Quinn - with tv series doing so well and especially for it to be highly noted for the color blind casting , do you think this will inspire you to write more diverse (e.g race or sexuality) main characters in the future books ?

I’m kind of surprised. This actress is absolutely stunning and I always pictured Kate to be more average looking, especially because her sister is supposed to be the diamond of the season. I wonder who will be cast as her sister?
"The Viscount Who Loved Me" is by far my favorite book in the Bridgerton series. How the story progressed kept me hooked and wanting for more till the end. I can't wait for season 2!!
