Ahhhhh! My beloved fic Against the Rest of the World just...

Ahhhhh! My beloved fic Against the Rest of the World just attained 50,000 hits today!! I’m so incredibly pleased! This story means a ton to me. It was my answer to the great Reichenbach Return genre, aka a would-be version of series 3, written before series 3 came out: the great question of what would happen once Sherlock came back and how John would react. Our fandom is full of classic, novel-length stories that look at that premise, and what struck me at the time was that the vast majority seemed to be written from John’s perspective and focused on his (not-unjustified) grief and anger. I always felt that Sherlock’s side of the story was missing, particularly the gap of what happened to him while he was away. So I decided to try to write a story that would fill in some of that space, told not only from Sherlock’s perspective, but directly in first person voice. I literally worked this story every day for four straight months, updating with a new chapter on average every six days, and the chapters range from 5K+ words to 11K+ words, so I was just writing feverishly, morning, noon, and night, around my café and ESL teaching jobs that I had at the time. I finished it JUST under the wire, two days before Many Happy Returns aired and immediately jossed my fic-universe, lol. But I did get it done under the wire. While it’s only the 7th of my fics in this fandom, out of a now-posted 88, I have a fond hope that it still holds up after all this time. It absolutely astonishes and delights me that people are still reading it, seven years later! That’s absolutely amazing. Thank you, thank you, thank you to any of you who have read this story, even more so if you liked it, haha! It’s now the 4th of my 88 posted works to have achieved 50,000 of your hits, which is staggering. Thank you for every last one of them. <333333333333333333333333
