How to Reivent Yourself

There will be times in your life when you feel stuck and may discover a need to learn how to reinvent yourself. This could come when you experience a big change, such as leaving your job, ending a relationship, moving to a new home, or losing a loved one.

If you are going through a major shift in your life, you may have to find new ways of thinking or doing things, or risk failing to reach your full potential.

Many people who dared to leave their old, unhappy lives enabled themselves to pursue their passions and find a renewed zest for living. You can also achieve the same, if you take a leap of faith and make things happen for yourself.

I’ve shared with my coaching clients, “A goal without a plan is just a dream. Nothing wrong with dreaming, but we’d rather make things happen!” This is where your attitude shifts from a goal to a plan.

I’d like to help you be your best wherever you may be in your personal or professional life. Here are some practical tips on how to reinvent yourself.

Consider what needs to happen to make your goals a reality. Remember you are about to reinvent yourself.

Planning out your steps is the hardest part of this process, but it is absolutely necessary to your success. Define your goals. Define a plan. Define benchmarks and key results.

Write out everything and give yourself deadlines as to what you are going to do on this journey to reinventing yourself.

I can’t say it enough. A dream without a plan is just a wish. Wishes are awesome but having a wish is not going to reinvent your life in and of itself.

Before embarking on a journey of self-reinvention, professionally and/or personally, you need to make sure you have everything you need to make the trip bump-proof. These things include:

1. The goal.
2. The course of action to reach the goal.
3. The deadline to hit the goal.
4. A daily plan to ensure the above 3 are kept.

During the process of learning how to reinvent yourself, you will have to pull yourself away from your old comfort zones, habits, roles, and self-perceptions.

This can be difficult and cause you to question your self-worth. On the journey, it’s important to engage in self-care to maintain a positive outlook and keep your mind and body healthy.

If you truly want to reinvent yourself and live the life you desire, take the advice I’ve shared and start taking action. Time, patience, and plenty of effort will be necessary on your part to make the changes you want happen, but it will be worth it.
