Sometimes its easy to fall into the trap of thinking just because you've written a fairly-well-received novel that you are suddenly an expert on everything.  Trust me – I still have the scars from repeatedly springing that giant of a bear-trap on myself.  I've learned from a good friend and fellow author Belinda Frisch that it takes a lot of hard work and research to not just develop a story but more importantly to continually hone your craft.  She's a damn fine writer and an even better friend and this is one bit of advice I plan to take.
