If you stop, listen close enough, put your ear to the winds and...

If you stop, listen close enough, put your ear to the winds and just silence the rest, you’ll hear it. Like musician in stage light, this old heart of mine thumps wildly, drumbeats against the noise I endure, and I call it a strong heart. Loudly it beats for those I love, those I care for, those I hope daily for better things, for bigger dreams, for calmer nights, for health and joy and love and happiness and peace and a contentment in their own hearts. This heart beats for those I allow in, for I do not allow in many, I cannot fit them all.
.
If you listen, if you truly listen, you’ll hear it in the rhythm of my words, in the spacing of my poetry, in the responses I try to send as often as I possibly can to all of you. If you listen, you’ll know what it is that drives this heartbeat, the truth that I value you all so immensely.
.
I am one who loves, fiercely, I burn from the fire of it and I worry not about the mess of ash on the floor. It’s always been this way, I think it always will be. If you’re here, listen, for it’s beating for you.

Listen to my heart,
the drumbeat of my longing,
listen to this love.
