Get Used to Letting People Down
The Bible teaches us in Romans 12:18, “If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.” I like another translation that says, “As much as it is possible…” After living 45 years, I’ve come to accept no matter how hard you try you’re not going to be able to have everybody at peace with you.
I truly believe what the Bible teaches us to do, is to try our best to live peaceably with everyone. However, once you discover some people cannot be pleased, it will liberate you to learn how to accept that and not allow it to cost you more pain and misery on your journey to living life effectively.
As your Effective Living Life Management Coach, I need you to accept this truth: you’re never going to be able to please everyone.
It’s nice to be liked. However, it cannot come at the expense of your values, joy, or peace, nor drive you to burnout. Your goal in life is to live life effectively. You have to come to the conclusion you will not be able to please everyone.
Please don’t even try to please everyone!
Don’t let anyone else’s opinion of you or your life impact what you do with you or your life. Let me say it again…you’re never going to be able to please everyone, so there is really no point in trying. Do what makes you happy.
Find balance in dealing with people!! Not everyone is going to like you… and that’s okay!
- Know who you are,
- What you believe in,
- What’s important to you.
If people don’t like you for who you are, don't take it personal. Who you are won't be liked by everyone. Watch my short talk HERE where I talk about this.
The faster you understand how not to become overwhelmed by the reality that you can’t please everyone you will be positioning yourself for a happier life this year.
No matter what you do or say, it is going to inevitably upset someone. You're never going to be able to please everyone, so you're better off doing what feels right for you and not apologizing for it.
Get used to letting people down. You can't please everyone. If you struggle with being a people pleaser, this week’s blog is going to challenge you. If you want to be free, accept the truth I’ve shared with you.
