Powell.  Patterson’s first major museum survey …while the dew is still on the roses… opened at the Pérez Art Museum Miami in 2018, toured to the Speed Art Museum, Louisville, KY, and then to the NasherMuseum in 2020. Richard J. Powell is the John Spencer Bassett Distinguished Professor of Art & Art History at Duke University, where he has taught since 1989. Powell is recognized as one of the foremost authorities on African American art and culture, and teaches courses in American art, the arts of the African Diaspora, and contemporary visual studies.'
