Karma

Our personality is an expression of our past plus influences from our present environment. We carry our past as unconscious memory. In a certain respect, mentally we live in the past, where our present actions are determined by our subconscious memories.

We act based on the memory of like and dislike, or attraction (raga) and repulsion (dwesha). It is from self-study of our actions based on likes and dislikes that we can learn more about ourselves and even start to get hints as to our past lives. In most cases strong talents/abilities exist because we developed them in some past life.

Child prodigies are expressing a talent that they developed very strongly in a recent past life, and it manifests early in their present life. There are many clues visible in the every day world that indicates that reincarnation is a fact of life. Karma can be best understood by studying all our relationships, and experience in our daily actions. It is from this study we can begin to sense our Karma and learn more about our purpose in this life. Together the doctrine of Karma and Reincarnation are invaluable tools that help us to understand our lives and destiny.
