Just Thinking of Anne and Gil (Zorro Winner and New Contest, Too!)

In late winter and early spring, my thoughts always, always turn to "Anne."  I'm serious!  It may be because the first time I ever watched the Kevin Sullivan production of Anne of Green Gables was during that time of year…at a time when I was feeling really low and out of touch with myself…and I can honestly tell you that "Anne" found me!

As I watched Anne of Green Gables that year, it was like a little light began going off in my brain…like a little voice was whispering, "Oh yeah!  That's right!  That's who I am!"  It was weird…the way a movie (and the the book) could put me back in touch with my core self.  And weird though it may have seemed, I was soooooooo grateful for the experience and to L.M. Montgomery for writing the "Anne" books!

And so, every year at this time, I find myself longing for a little escape into "Anne"…into her world…into Avonlea…not to mention the romance between Anne and Gil!  I mean, who doesn't love Gil, right?  Seriously…what a guy!

I'm not going to ramble on today the way I usually do…because if you're an Anne of Green Gables fan, then you understand my feelings.  And if you aren't yet an Anne of Green Gables fan…rush out and become one!  AND this week's contest is one way to do that!

But first…the winner of last week's Zorro contest is…Brynette McKinneyBrynette…e-mail your snail mail address to me at marcialmcclure@cs.com so I can pop your Zorro DVDs in the mail to you asap!

And for this week's contest…whether you already love Anne and Gilbert or whether you still need to hop on the bandwagon how about this…the audio (CDs) version of Anne of Green Gables!!!  Yep…here's your chance to listen to the book I love so very, very much!  Just leave a comment here concerning anything "Anne"-ish and you're entered!

I could truly write a book on why I love Anne of Green Gables!  So whether or not you've ever read the book or seen the movies…this audio version will be a treasure!  I LOVE "Anne!"

Shellie I haven't seen Anne in years!! I do remember sitting for hours upon hours with my sister while we watched each one from Anne as a little red-headed orphan clear through Avonlea. Great story, great characters!

Julia I remember setting up forts in my basement with my sister on lazy Saturday afternoons, and dragging the t.v. into our forts so we could watch Anne of Green Gables. I haven't watched them in years, and I'm sorry to say I haven't had the chance to read them yet. I will definitely have to do that.

Cyndi I love the movies, but I've never read the books. So please pick me so I can try them out. I love listening to books on CD!

Nanci You know, my mother told me I should read the books when I was young and I resisted. One day, when I was in high school, I was out of reading material so I finally picked the book up. I was hooked from then on. So fast forward many years, I am the mother trying to get my daughter to read them. So far, I am unsuccessful. Maybe I need to withhold other reading material for a while and see if history repeats itself? We are big audio book fans at our house. Maybe I can get AJ to listen while she cleans her room and kill two birds with one stone.

Charity It has been a long time since I thought of Anne of Green Gables. I loved the book. Would be nice to revisit this story. Thanks for the chance.

Natalie When I was reading the dream lists in Kissing Cousins, I knew that you had to be a fan of Anne. I've seen the movies about a million times over. I don't know why I haven't read the books yet, but I definitely should. Thanks for the reminder:)
